We access the Internet today with more devices than our PC.
Last night I was about to watch Barcelona’s last game of the season and I had my iPad with me on my couch. I thought it would be fun to place a few bets on the match, so I went to svenskaspel.se to place my bets. But it wasn’t possible for me to access Svenska Spel’s website since it is all in Flash. iPad and iPhones are two mobile devices who don’t have Flash.
iPads aren’t available in Sweden yet but …

Today Svenska Spel launched an iPhone app where you can get results from matches and events.
It is interesting and exciting to see that Svenska Spel are among the first operators to develop an iPhone app. You can see your current bets, but you can’t place any bets (probably because Apple wouldn’t allow it).
I’ll use the app for  few days and then write a review.

Is instant poker as good as the download versions? Not at the moment!
If you compare Full Tilt Poker or PokerStars mac client with an instant version from any of the competitors then you’ll see that Full Tilt and PokerStars is way ahead. It is faster to load, faster to start tables and have more features.
An instant version works well when you are using a computer on which you aren’t allowed to install software.
Many poker rooms today have both a download version and an instant version of their poker client.

I’m a member at Svenska Spel and play there every now and then. Today I went to svenskaspel.se to see how much money had in my account there.
The start page had two big buttons (in the circle in the middle of the image),
“Check out the site” and “Become a member and play!”
I was very surprised to see those options, especially since my member number was already filled in. So Svenska Spel knows that I am a member and shouldn’t display that start page for me.

Svenska Spel posted earlier this month their result for Jan – Jun 09. The result was 591 Million Swedish kronor in net profit. This is less than last year (648). Poker was down 16,4% and bingo was down 18,4%.
Playtech is another company in the gaming industry that have reported a result not as good as expected.
I am sure that Svenska Spel and Playtech are not the only companies in the gaming industry having a tough year.
