Today more gaming portals focus on the player experience which is really good and I enjoy seeing new innovative features. But sometimes I come to portals where things could improve by just a 10 minute user experience session when you develop a new feature/page element.
Today  I got an email from Bet24 letting me know that I still have money in my account. This was a nice email to recieve and it is good for Bet24 as well since I went to the site to place a few bets.
After signing in …

The registration process is one of the most important a gaming portal has! But sometimes I see solutions aren’t the best from a player’s point of view.
Today I saw another example when I signed up for bet-at-home.com.
Image 1. Registration page at bet-at-home.com
The good thing with the registration form is that you don’t have to fill in too much information to get started. The bad thing is that you can’t choose your own username or password! Bet-at-home.com choose to send you an account number and a PIN code insted.
This is bad …

NordicBet released their new website a while back and overall I think it is a big improvement compared to the previous version.
One thing that confused me last time I visited NordicBet was the button you see in image 1. Even though I am logged in there is a button saying “Create Account”. Why is that? Can I create another/different account from the one I logged in with?

I of course clicked on the button and I got an error message, see …

Last night I tried to sign up at 888.com to play casino. It wasn’t the easiest thing to do. The registration form is pretty straight forward but the thing that made me get stuck was the password field. In the images below you see what it looks like.
Today

What was really confusing and took a while for me to discover was that the password have to be exactly 8 characters long. There are a few things that add to the confusion:
You don’t get …

Betsafe’s sign up form
When I created an account with Betsafe (Betsafe’s casino page will be next week’s redesign) I noticed something a little bit confusing.
In the image above you can see the Password input field which is mandatory. And below is the the field where you should retype the password. Isn’t that field mandatory? It actually is, but looks like it isn’t!
I see the “Password” and “Retype password” fields as two seperate ones and “Retype password” should also be in bold and have the asterics showing that it is mandatory.

Image 1. Everest Poker’s registration form.
Often poker players play on many different sites from time to time. You can help your players to start playing faster by letting them sign in using their e-mail address as their username.
Today I registered on Everest Poker and there I had to come up with a new username since my regular ones were already taken.
is much easier to remember your e-mail address than a username for a portal/poker site which you might not visit more than a couple of times a month or even …

Image 1. PartyPoker instant sign up form.
One of the most important things for gaming operators is to make sure all the basic functionality works 100%!
Today I tried to sign up at PartyPoker using their instant poker client and everything worked fine until I got to the second step (in the first step it was a real hazzle to find a username not already taken).
But I couldn’t complete the second step. As you can see in the image above I got error messages saying “Please select your country from the list” …

This week’s redesign is looking at one of the first things a potential player needs to do before they can become a player on your gaming portal, this is the registration process.
A potential player just want to get started as fast as possible and therefor the registration process needs to be fast, easy and help the player in case he gets confused during the process.
Many gaming portals doesn’t put that much effort in making a great registration form and this week I’ve looked at Betfair’s sign up form and come up …

William Hill has a good registration form, it is very straight forward and gives you your deposit options in the second step.
They also offer “Paypal Customer Express Registration” for players using PayPal. I have a PayPal-account so I thought I’d go with the Paypal Customer Express Registration since I already have my credit card details there.Â
I was very surprised to find out that after login in to PayPal I got an error message saying “Payments to this merchant are not available from the country where your bank or credit card …

You (A gaming company) advertise on TV, on websites, in magazines and at sport events with the goal of attracting new players.Â
If  the potential player finds your ad interesting he goes to your website. If he is still interested after looking at your website for a while then he wants to be able to play your games as fast as possible.
But why do so many gaming portals today make this so much more difficult than it has to be?
To be able to play you have to register (You shouldn’t have to …
