Betsson teases their players but makes it hard for them to start playing!

Image. Gonzo’s Quest background “banner”
Betsson updated their gaming portal a while back and now have different backgrounds (they are like full screen banners) on many pages. It makes the portal feel more alive but I see a big problem with it, a problem that can be easily fixed though.
The problem
The “banners” (backgrounds) are there to make the players interested in a specific game or event. But what should the player do after he’s seen it and want to learn more or try out the game?
He tries to click on the …

Sportsbook study! Looking for examples of good or bad sportsbook designs!

Sports betting is very popular and account for a big part of many gaming operators income. But the way people place bets online today is very similar. Is this because it is the optimal way to place bets or is everyone copying each other?
I think improvements can be made since I’ve seen many players having problems placing bets.
Investing in user experience activities will pay off many times the cost and improve loyalty.
I’m starting a study of current sportsbook designs and am looking for examples that work well, but also examples …

Did Betsson listen to my design advice? :)

I wrote a blog post, Betsson can make it easier for their poker players. Here is a suggestion!, giving Betsson a design advice back in September (read the post here).  And today when I played on Betsson I saw that Betsson had redesigned their poker section on Betsson.com and the solution I suggested is implemented.

When will we see new innovations when it comes to online bingo?
Today almost every bingo client have the same functionality:

Buy tickets/Play bingo
Play minigames

There are great opportunities to create an online bingo that is much more integrated with social media. Why not let players do stuff (besides chatting)?
And when will we see bingo sites where you don’t just open up a bingo client in a new window, insted have the bingo incorportated with other stuff?
There is so much that could be done!
So why don’t you get started? (need help? send me …

Start differentiate your online casino and retain your players!

Net Entertainment produce really good browser based casino software and is used by many online casinos.
The problem I see is that many of the online casinos using Net Entertainment’s games look very similar when it comes to displaying the games. I am sure that Net Entertainment supply some nice widgets and API’s for the online casinos to use but it looks like online casinos today just use what they get.
In the list of images below you see five online casinos (24hPoker, Bet24, BetClick, Betsafe, Betsson, NordicBet). Can you see place the right image with the right …

Betsson can make it easier for their poker players. Here is a suggestion!

Image 1. Betsson’s unnecessary step when starting the instant poker client.
Betsson should remove the unnecessary step in the player’s user flow when it comes to starting the instant poker client.
Today when you click on the “Play in the browser” button on the poker start page you don’t start the poker client, insted you come to a page with information about Java. As a poker player I would expect the poker client to launch right away without this page.
Showing this page is good when you don’t have Java installed but not …
